Fisher Paykel Washing Machine Error Code #??

Fisher Paykel washing machines have several very common washer repairs on them.  If you own a Fisher Paykel washing machine you will at some point need to possibly make a repair to it.

Fisher Paykel washer come in several different makes and models.  Starting with some of the older GWL11 and GWL15.  Fisher Paykel washer are very simple washing machines to work on yourself.  You can access most parts from the bottom by tipping the washer back against the wall.  Fisher Paykel washing machines may or may not have an LCD read out.  On the two mentioned above they do not.  To tell what the error code is you will need to know which of the 8 LEDS are on.

Each one of the LEDs represent a different numerical value.  To determine what the error code is you need to add the numerical values up and look at the tech sheet.  The washer can flash user fault error codes or technical fault error codes.  If you can simply reset the washing machine by lifting the washers top and moving the load around that would be considered a user fault.  If you unplug the washer and it does not change upon plugging back in that is a technical fault.

Hi I have a fisher and Paykel washing machinge GW511 and the lights 3,4 and 8 lights are flashing with a beeping noise. How do I fix this?
    Thanks

  2. admin says:

    Hi,

That is a hot/cold valve error code. The first thing to check on your Fisher Paykel washer are the screens on the back where the hoses connect. Some times the hoses get clogged and do not let water into the washer. If the screens are clear the valve would need to be replaced.

The error code your are getting on you’re washing machine is for a valve. The tech sheet says it cold be the hot or the cold. Good luck with your washer repair friend.

  3. Brent says:

Have a GWL 15, led 4,5,6,7 are on and machine shuts down during early wash cycle. Can you help?

    • admin says:

That code is not coming up friend. Press and hold the wash temp down button then press power. You should hear two short beeps. Next press the spin speed up button until the hold and slow led are on. Now the last error code will be displayed. What is the error now?

  4. Brent says:

how about this code 3,4,7,8. 3 & 4 are wash lights, 7, rinse, and 8 spin light.

    • admin says:

Thats better. That is error code #51 diverter valve fault. Very common on Fisher Paykel washing machines. You can make this washer repair yourself. Tip the washing machine back and look in the back right corner. It has two small wires that connect to it and two quick disconnect fitting. Change or debris can get trapped inside and not let the diverter valve open. When this happens fisher paykel has the controller programmed to through this error code. If the valve is clear, replace the diverter.

Let me know if you get your washing machine fixed. If that fixes your washer you just saved a little over $200 man!!

    • admin says:

      Hi,

Which model washing machine do you have? Fisher Paykel GWL11 or a GWL15? That is not an error code on your washer friend. It’s not in the service manual anyway. How did you come up with error code 7?

  7. Andy says:

    Hi,

I have a GWL11. I just had the diverter valve replaced by a tech today, but I still have code lights 3,6 & 8 come on at the rinse cycle along with a rapid beep. When the pause button is pushed, the lights go off and the lid lock light comes on and the beeping stops. Is there a reset for the computer when a new part is added or should I assume that the new diverter valve is broken. Thanks for your time!

    • admin says:

      Hi,

I would assume the diverter valve is not bad. The error code on you’re washing machine is a pump blocked error code. Take the pump off its simple. Push the tab in and twist. Fisher Paykel makes it easy to replace the drain pump on these. If nothing is inside the pump would probably need to be replaced. Good luck and thanks for the comment friend.

  8. Kiwi says:

Hi, I have a MW 612 Washing Machine, It is a New Zealand model Fisher and Paykel Smart Drive 5.5kg Top Loader circa 2007. You may well have a different number for it in different countries.
The Error I am getting is led 1 and 7 lit up ( I believe only when it gets to spin)
    Many Thanks

    • admin says:

Hi, yes you are correct Fisher Paykel uses the same washing machine in different countries with different models. The error code on you’re washing machine is a RPS sensor issue. Check the sensor on the bottom make sure the wires are snug. I have often been able to fix this washing machine error code by unplugging the sensor wires and reconnecting. Let me know if you have any more Fisher Paykel washer repair question we would love to help. Thanks for taking the time to ask your repair question friend. Good luck and God bless you and yours.

  9. todd says:

    I have a GWL10
The machine will not go into diagnostic mode (hold temp down press power).

I do get lights on the panel. But the spin hold down does nothing.
I pulled pump motor,. (it was clean)
    Is there a reset mode?
    Thank you

    • todd says:

Also We had a Tech here awhile back and my code sheet disappeared do you know where I can find a copy?

      • admin says:

        Hi,

To enter diagnostics the washing machines control needs to be off. Press the power button so the panel is blank then follow the diagnostic instructions. When you do it correctly two short beeps will be heard. Once you get the beeps then press spin speed so the hold and slow LED’s are on. The last error code will appear. Tell me which of the eight LED’s are on and I will tell you which part likely needs to be replaced on your washing machine.

  10. todd says:

GWL 10 will not enter into diagnostic mode.
When pressing temp and power button lights under wash # 2, 3 and 5 light up. I do not get 2 short beeps.
    Is there a reset?

    • admin says:

      Hi,

On these units there is no reset. Fisher Paykel uses error codes to diagnose most washer errors. Unfortunately there is no reset on your model.

  11. Andrea says:

Code 39, lights 1 3 and 5….help. Also a strange burning smell from machine.

  12. admin says:

Andrea, thanks for the comment and your sense of humor I love it. The pump is blocked. That is what the error code is and the smell. The pump may be bad as well. If water is dripping from it, replace the drain pump. I wrote an article that explains how to fix it. You can click on the link below to read how to fix the error code #37.

  13. Jim says:

Hi I have an error code on my MW612 Washing Machine of 1 and 7 lit, can you tell me how I can go about repairing this code?
    Cheers

    • admin says:

      Jim,

Sorry for the late reply. I have been out of town for a few weeks. The washing machine error code you are getting is means the control board is detecting higher then normal current in the motor.

Tip the washer back and drop the motor housing. Inspect the motor and RPS sensor for any visible damage.

If the washing machines motor and sensor look good, you would need to replace the washer control board to rectify the situation.

Good luck with you Fisher Paykel washer repair friend.

  14. Malcolm says:

Hi, my washing machine has an error code of 3,4,7 and 8 and i took the diverter off and now it has 3,4 and 8 and is making randon beeps.

    • admin says:

      Malcolm,

Again sorry for the tardy reply. Thanks for asking your question friend. The washing machine error code you have is a fill valve error. Check the screens on the fill valve for debris. If the screens are clear the water valve would probably need to be replaced. It’s the most common issue with this error code.

  15. Graeme says:

Hi i have a GW712 and the lights on are 3,4 and 8? could you please tell me what this means? and or how i could fix it.

    regards graeme

    • admin says:

      Hello,

The error code you have is the same as Malcolm. You need to check the water valve screens on the back for a clog. If the screens are clear either the hot or cold vale would need to be replaced depending on the serial. Some have single valves and other washers have dual valves.

Good luck with your Fisher Paykel washing machine repair.

  16. Dale h says:

I have a gwl15 and I recently replace the pump/motor and the controller. I am getting error code 1,2,3,4,5

    • admin says:

      Dale,

This is not an error code friend. Did you program the washing machines control after you replaced it? You need to set the size before it will work correctly.

Post back and I will assist you friend

  17. Bret says:

    Good afternoon,
I have a F&P IWL12 which had an accident: a youngster tried to wash a large cushion, and in the spin cycle the material popped up and tore out the lid lock mechanism. As a result the machine prompts a fault code of 234, which naturally seems to relate to the lid lock/OOB mechanisms. However, I pulled the lid lock and OOB sensor from a machine which should fit in the IWL12 (from a GWL11 which is supposed to use the same mechanism) and installed it, but I still get the same fault code when the machine goes to spin. Is there a way to reset the system so that it is clear to function with the ‘new’ lid lock and OOB mechanism? I would have bought the part new, but both places I looked would not take a return if I didn’t solve the issue… and I was afraid of this very problem.
    Many thanks in advance!
    Bret

    • admin says:

      Bret,

The error code that you say you have is not coming up on my end. Have you placed the washer into diagnostics to retrieve the last error code stored? Like I said the code is not coming up on my end. I would love to help you friend but would need a good error code.

Good luck with your Fisher Paykel washing machine repair.

I know these units well and can assist you with any error code or service related issue you may be having.

  18. Janet Heaton says:

We have a GWL15. We just replaced the control board and are now getting the error 1,2,3,4,5. Any ideas how to fix this?

    • admin says:

      Janet,

You have the same issue that Dale is having. I suspect that you did not set the size after the board was replaced. The lights that you have on are not a error code.

Get into diagnostics and tell me what error code comes up. Below is the link to the article I wrote that explains how to gain access to the inside.

      FisherPaykelWasherDiagnostics

Once you have the washers error code post back and I would be happy to assist you with your washer repair.

Good luck with your Fisher Paykel washing machine repair friends.

  19. Bret says:

    Hello again,
I will try to find the website with a service manual which indicates a fault code 234 = OOB / Lid lock problem so you can see it too. The code does seem rare, but this is on the IWL12 model and it seems like there is far less information on the web about the IWL12 than other models. Anyway, my real question is about resetting the codes. Is there a way to ‘reboot’ the system so that if I replace the Lid lock mechanism and wiring harness the control software doesn’t automatically assume that there was a previous issue?
I’ll get the website to you when I track it down. In the mean time, thank you for giving this some thought.
    Bret

  20. Bret says:

As a quick follow-up to that last question, the display on this unit is different than the GWL11 which only has the LED lights to show diagnostics. On the IWL there is a screen which displays information and lets the user choose settings – this is where the fault code was shown while the machine beeped every second continuously. I only mention this since on the GWL11 I assume I would have to interpret the LEDs to get a fault code, where on the IWL it is spelled out for me in english. It communicates this fault code each time it gets to the spin cycle (and stops functioning / emits a beep every second until I power it off) as well as in the diagnostic mode.

  21. Nick says:

I have a Fisher Paykel Aquasmart WL70T60D. When the spin cycle starts I get an error. The service light comes on, as does the Delicate and Colours Lights. Is this something I can check and fix myself??

    • admin says:

      Hello,

Thanks for taking the time to ask you washing machine error code question! To better assist you I need to know which of the eight LEDs are on? 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 Let me know which LEDs are on the washing machines control panel and I will be able to tell you if you will be able to fix the washer yourself. Again thanks for asking your question here:)

  22. Nick says:

I think that would be light 3 and five.

    • admin says:

      Nick,

This error code you are getting has to do with the basket. it sounds like the basket is not engaging all the way. Take the inner basket out and look at the spline in the bottom it may be clogged with crap.

      Let me know friend

        Hello,

I would really like to help you fix your F&P washing machine. The error code you you are getting is not on the technical data sheet. If you are sure that you have entered diagnostics correctly for your model, I suspect the main controller has failed.

        Let me know

    Thank you

    • Rusty says:

      • admin says:

        Rusty,

Thanks for taking the time to ask your F&P washing machine error code question. Have you entered diagnostics mode and confirmed that error code? Error # 38 is not on the tech sheet either. If you need to get into diagnostics there is a great article that I wrote on the site. If you want a link to it shoot me your email and I will link it to you. Let me know brother.

  25. Ryan schaffer says:

We have a f&p wa37t26g that is flashing the 1 and 7 LEDs with a beeping i am pretty sure it’s the load censor, but this will be the 2nd one that has been replaced in 6 mo is this going to keep happening or should the techs be looking to see why this keeps on happening? or is this just something we will have to live with?

    • admin says:

      Hello,

Thanks for taking the time to ask your question friend I sure appreciate it:) You are correct, the error code it a faulty RPS sensor. Very interesting as to why it keeps failing. I would suspect you do in fact have another issue for sure. The sensor is very fragile so if its not getting put on correctly, that could cause it. The wire harness having a short in it could cause this issue or possibly the motor itself. I sure as heck would not live with it. If you’re paying to have a tech replace it, then they need to figure it out..

  26. Kat says:

Hello, I have a top loading ecosmart model #WA37T26W2 No matter what cycle I have it set on, the washer stops filling after about 30 seconds and lights 1 and 7 turn on…What code it that.?

    • admin says:

      Hello,

That would indicate a faulty RPS sensor. The sensor is located on the stator motor underneath the washing machine. If you are handy, you can replace it. I can get you a link where you can purchase the RPS sensor. Let me know friend:)

  27. Keith says:

    Hello Helpful Dude,

Got a F&P MW512 that intermittantly (mostly not now) won’t kick into the final spin cycle. The hw/pwr hold throws up the red spin light + the next amber and the bottom water level light. Quite few times rearranging the load made it go or pulling the motherboard apart etc; even that doesn’t work now.
What do you recon? – all help much appreciated thank you.

    • admin says:

      Keith,

Thanks for the kind compliant.. Let me ask you, have you entered diagnostics mode yet? Without knowing which of the 8 LED’s are on I wouldn’t be able to assist you. Sounds like you have a control or lid lock issue but not knowing the error code I couldn’t say for sure.

  28. Keith says:

Probably should have mentioned; Lid-Lock activates; sounds like its about to wind-up for the spin; stops; Lid-Lock deactivates; Repeating previous until I attack it in one form or another as previously described; Bad language usually ensues; Losing mana with my lady due to lack of techical prowess as previously fiened ;)

      Hello,

This is not an error code. Try putting the washer into diagnostics and retrieving the last known error code. With the last error code I would be able to better assist you friend.

  31. Jake says:

I have a WL37T26CW2 that I got from an auction. Machine was new as far as I could tell with the manual inside the basin still in its plastic wrapping. On the first cycle we ran, the machine gave a “fault 245″. It sounded like the a motor was trying to start, but couldn’t. The basin was full of soapy water, but the next part of the cycle wouldn’t engage. I have it drained and the Smart Pump Assembly part #479417 has an impeller thing that is hard to spin. Should I assume it is the cause of the fault? Tech support told me that code is “pump circuit fault”.

    • admin says:

      Hello,

The impeller on the drain motor should have some resistance but it should spin freely. If the drain motor is getting voltage and not draining then the motor is likely the problem.. Check the drain hose for a blockage it could cause this issue as well.

    • admin says:

      Hello,

Thanks for taking the time to ask your washing machines error code question. The error code you are getting is a bad diveter valve. Tip the unit back and inspect the valve for a blockage. The diverter valve is on the back bottom right. Two quick connect hoses attach to it. Very simple to inspect. If its clear, then normally that means it needs to be replaced.

I’m so happy I found you!

Maybe you can help me. I have a WA37T26G Ecosmart. Not sure any other model information. It’s about 5 years old. The water pump went out a few weeks ago and I replaced it but didn’t install the fuse that came with it. I misunderstood the purpose of the fuse and thought there was already one that was working that I would replace when it went out.

After replacing water pump everything worked great. Until the other day, when I filled it to soak towels. At some point we realized it didn’t finish the cycle. Looked at it and no power. Unplugged, plugged back in, no beeps, no power.

Drained the machine, pulled the water pump, checked for blockages.
Now, I’m trying to find instructions to install the fuse, also trying to figure out what may have happened and if it’s because I didn’t install the fuse… Maybe it’s a simple fix?

    • admin says:

Hi, thanks for taking the time to comment. I will try my best to assist you.

The instructions to install the fuse should have been with the board. It is a little late now though:( Based on your complaint, it sounds like the board is bad. When you replace the old style pump with the new the fuse needs to be installed. If the fuse does not get installed, the board will likely be friend in the event is draws to many amps. This could be from something jamming it or simply just a large load that the pump got overworked from.

I suspect that the control board on your Paykel washing machine has been shorted:( Check the green harness connection on the board for power. If you have power and no display, that would mean it’s bad:(
